Where is the Ala Wai Boat Harbor?

Conveniently located between Waikiki and Downtown Honolulu at 1651 Ala Moana Blvd, Honolulu HI 96813.

How do I get to the Ala Wai Boat Harbor parking lot?

The boat harbor parking facilities can be accessed via Holomoana Street, Hobron Lane, or Kahanamoku Street. There are no gates, so you can drive in at any time, but please be aware of the time restrictions and limits on certain stalls.

What are the different types of stalls and when are they available?

The site has three hundred (300) recreational stalls, three hundred and twenty-nine (329) paid stalls, and three hundred and twelve (312) permit stalls. The type of stall is identified by official site signage. P

Paid and permit stalls are available Monday through Sunday, 24 hours a day. Overnight parking is permitted.

Recreational stalls are available Monday through Sunday, 4:30am to 10:30pm. No overnight parking is permitted.

How much does it cost to park at the Ala Wai Boat Harbor?

Recreation stalls are free with a 6-hour max stay.

Paid stalls are $1/hour with a 24-hour max stay.

Different permits are available and have a 120-hour max stay.

How do I pay?

For paid parking, head to any one of our conveniently located pay stations immediately after parking and pay with a credit card. Cash not accepted.

For permit parking, you can purchase through our website or in person at our office. We accept credit card, check, and cash. Due to COVID-19, in person purchases are by appointment only.

Can I be towed?

Yes, patron’s not following the parking rules, officially posted signage, or pavements markings can be towed. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed and held at owners’ expense by: MR TOW at 123 Pu’uhale Road, Honolulu HI 96819. +1 (808) 486 4665.

What permits are available?

The Harbor Tenant Permit is available for $25/month for any boat owner who has a valid DLNR mooring permit. This permit is also available to co-owners, spouses, reciprocal beneficiaries, and legal dependents 18 years or older. Proof of relationship must be provided.

The Public Monthly Permit is available for $150/month for any non-boating related persons.

Do I need to provide anything when purchasing a permit?

Yes. The list of items to bring dependent on your permit is below:

How long can I purchase a permit for?

You can purchase a permit up until the expiry date of your mooring permit or vehicle registration, whichever expires first.

Where do I place my sticker?

The parking sticker (green decal) issued by Secure Parking Hawaii should be installed on the left-hand side of the rear bumper, or as near thereto as the configuration of the vehicle permits.

Temporary permits issued by Secure Parking Hawaii should be placed on the front dash or rearview mirror.

Is the parking operator responsible for towing?

No, the parking contractor is not responsible for towing. This is contracted directly by DLNR to MR TOW. The parking operator can only request a tow for an improperly parked vehicle.

I have a disabled parking placard; do I need to pay?

All disabled parking placards are required to pay for parking except for the GREEN Disabled Paid Parking Exemption Permit, issued only by the State of Hawaii. These particular permits are conditionally exempt from paying fees, ONLY for the first 2.5 hours.

All disabled placards give patron’s the right to reserved accessible parking stalls throughout the Ala Wai Boat Harbor.
